Back to riding some good miles on the island after my great break in Idaho climbing in the trees and mountains.
I was awoken around 0300 this morning to Police sirens, Fire truck sirens, and of course the extremely bright lights that go along with both. A friendly MP decided to park his car with lights on right outside my window. Looking out and seeing the crazy amount of cops and other support personal I was thinking "crap this is going to be a health and comfort inspection". I debated throwing my bike gear on and getting out of there before anything happened. I ended up getting dressed just in case and laying back down in bed. Curiosity overwhelmed and I got up and started to walk around a bit to figure out what was going on. Looked towards the Smokers "pit" and discovered that was were the action was. Turns out some stupid person decided to get completely wasted, as most of the failed youth of the service do. Thank you irresponsible members of society, thank you for my lack of sleep.
The plan was to meet Mike Zagorski at the bottom of Kunia Rd around 0700 and head up Kunia Rd and go from there. We headed up Kunia, then down Snake Rd, then around Halewia then out towards Waimea Bay. Its cool, yet sorta weird how in under two hours on a bike you can be on the complete opisite side of the island. Turned around there and headed back the same way, Mike pulled off at the top of Pinapple Hill to head back to Millina as I headed back down Kunia Rd then onwards back to base. All and all was a good ride of 64 miles, legs felt good and ready for more.
